Yesterday, while the Derry Open was in progress, Victoria was at the 2012 Allstar Cup in Birmingham, where she finished third. This is her second bronze medal in a British Open this year, having finished third at the Merseyside Open back in February. Congratulations to Victoria, a great result!

Eleven BFC fencers turned out for the 2012 Derry Open at Foyle and Londonderry College yesterday, 17 Nov: Keziah and Rachel in WF; Peter, Alastair, Theo, Conor, Daragh, John, Callum, Stephen and David in MF. Stephen was 2nd in MF, narrowly beaten 15-14 in the final, while Peter won bronze. Results:
WF: Keziah 5th, Rachel 6th.
MF: Stephen 2nd, Peter 3rd, Alastair 6th, Callum 8th, Conor 11th, David 12th, Theo 14th, Daragh 16th, John17th.
BFC at the Derry Open
Last weekend Victoria was competing at the Welsh Open, held at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff. In a tough field, she won 3 of her poule fights, then fought her way into the last 16 where she was knocked out by the number 1 seed. This was Victoria’s 3rd major British Open of the season so far, having already competed at Essex and Bristol back in September. Results from these events, 2 L16s and a L32, have carried her up the Senior British WF rankings to 22nd.
The first round of the 2012/13 NIJFS was held last Saturday in Avoniel Leisure Centre. Thirteen BFC fencers attended, competing in 5 of the 7 age group categories and winning in 2 of them. BFC results:

U16F medal winners
Congratulations to Victoria for achieving selection to represent N Ireland in the NI Women’s Foil Team at the annual Fencing Five Nations. This year it was held in Dublin City University in North Dubin, last Saturday November 3rd. NI finished third in WF, beating the Republic of Ireland and Wales, where Victoria won all her fights, but lost to England and Scotland. The NI team finished the competition 4th overall.
