2013 Belfast Open

The 2013 Belfast Open Fencing Tournament was held last weekend, Sat 9th and Sun 10th March, run by Belfast Fencing Club at St Columbanus College in Bangor. This year we had our best turn out yet, with 93 competing across the 6 senior weapon categories and 47 juniors competing in the NIJFS event. For the full set of results see the Belfast Open 2013 page. BFC had members competing in 3 of the 6 senior events, results below.

Women’s Foil – 1st Victoria Duxbury, 3rd Rachel Philpott, 5th Keziah Beattie, 9th Emily Maginn.

Men’s Foil – 3rd Peter Brown, 3rd Stephen Brown, 5th Kieran Debbadi, 10th Theo Millar, 11th Alastair Houldsworth, 12th Callum Bodels, 13th Conor McClenahan, 15th David White, 17th Jake Bodels, 18th John Doyle.

Men’s Epee – 12th Gerry Boyle.

Well done all the above BFC competitors and a big thank you to all who assisted in the venue set-up, post event clear-up and on-the-day smooth running of the competition. Special thanks to Alastair Davidson for DT duties over the two days and to Columbanus College for the use of the premises.

NI Junior Foil Series Round 4

The 4th round of the NIJFS took place last weekend as part of the annual Belfast Open at St Columbanus College in Bangor. BFC juniors scored medal wins in U12 Boys, U14 Girls, U14 Boys, U16 Girls and U16 Boys. Results below.

Under 12 Boys – 3rd Finn Tyler, 3rd Matthew McKay.

Under 14 Girls – 1st Emily Maginn, 2nd Iona O’Neill, 3rd Rachel Smyth, 3rd Bethany Craig.

Under 14 Boys – 3rd Ben Sloan, 8th Jamie Doyle, 8th Marcus McEneaney, 13th Ben Young.

Under 16 Girls – 2nd Rachel Philpott, 3rd Keziah Beattie.
